Work During Peak Hours

Deliveroo is an absolutely tremendous way to make cash. You can even make a full-time income from Deliveroo if you play your cards right. However, a lot of people never reach their full potential with Deliveroo. This is because all they seem to do is accept delivery pings with no rhyme or reason. On this page, we are going to share some awesome Deliveroo tips and tricks. We want to help you to make the most amount of cash with Deliveroo.

Working During The Holidays

We know that people don’t want to work the holidays, but you should give it a go. This is when you will find a lot of orders roll in….and the tips aren’t going to be too bad either.

The best holidays for working Deliveroo will be those where people like to eat with one another e.g. Valentine’s Day and Thanksgiving. A lot of people mess up their Thanksgiving meals, and it is up to Deliveroo to ensure that the day goes perfectly after that!

Consider other events that are happening too. For example, during the Superbowl, you will likely end up finding a huge number of orders being placed. After all, people love to down some takeaway food while they are watching the big game.

We know that this means that you are going to be giving up your holiday, but don’t worry too much about that. What you should be worrying about is the huge amount of cash that you are going to end up with!

Focus on Delivery Areas With Restaurants That Are Closer Together

A lot of Deliveroo riders will spend their time in the areas where restaurants and homes are closer together. This means that you are going to be able to complete jobs much quicker.

In our experience, while there will often be a ton of riders focusing on these areas, there will be enough work flowing in. After all, if there are a ton of homes, that means that there will be a ton of people ready to place orders.

If you are lucky, then you may be able to pick up more orders from the same place, increasing the amount of cash that you can make per trip rather significantly.

...But Don't Neglect Those Delivery Areas With Fewer Riders

It can be exceedingly tempting to focus on the busiest areas, however, we have seen a good number of Deliveroo Riders make cash by venturing into areas where other drivers don’t head. The orders don’t come in as quickly, but there will be much less competition, which often results in being able to make more cash over the course of the night.

That being said, these areas are often not going to be a great idea for cyclists. This is because the homes and restaurants are not all that close together. You would end up tiring yourself out rather quickly.

Stay On The App After Closing Time

At some point in the evening, there will be a time when Deliveroo will stop accepting orders. However, there will likely still be some unaccepted orders kicking around. They may even continue to appear a few minutes after the official closing time for the app.

We recommend that you try and pick up some of these orders. It can make you a bit of extra cash during the last few minutes of the day.

Do bear in mind that if you do not accept an order for 5-minutes after the official closing time of the Deliveroo app, you will be automatically signed out of the app and not be able to accept another order until the next day rolls around.

Take Advantage Of The Heat Map In The Deliveroo App

One of the coolest features of the Deliveroo app is the heat map.

The heat map will tell you exactly where the most orders are being placed, so you will be able to park yourself in that area and take a few extra orders.

Deliveroo will accept delivery requests to places you might not expect, like parks, beaches and even drop-offs to cars. Keep these in mind when looking at the heat map.

That being said, as we mentioned before, you likely shouldn’t just be focusing on the hottest areas. All of the other drivers will be doing the same. Don’t forget to venture into some of the cooler areas of the map. There will still be a few orders, but not as much competition.

The heat map will certainly be able to tell you the areas that you should be avoiding too. If there is no ‘heat’ on an area, then don’t even bother heading there. You are not going to be picking up any fares, and you are going to be wasting a ton of time.

Seek Out Extra Fees In The Deliveroo App

There will be regular extra fees available through the Deliveroo app. This will allow you to make much more cash from deliveries. As soon as you login to the app, any available extra fees will be displayed to you.

If you navigate through the app and check out the extra fees section, then you will see an extra fees planner. This will show you when these promotions are happening in the future. Make a note of them, because these are the times that you are going to want to be signing into the app in order to make a little bit of extra cash.

Introduce Yourself When You Deliver An Order

If you do not have one of the no-contact deliveries, then don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to the person that you deliver to. For example:

“Hello (name), my name is (your name). I have your order from (restaurant name)”

Studies have shown that these people are much more likely to receive tips. It is something that is going to be quite personable, which works.

Head To a Restaurant As Soon As You Accept a Ping

As soon as you receive an order ping, make your way to the restaurant. The quicker you head to that restaurant, the quicker you are going to be able to wrap up those orders.

We have seen people hang around for a few minutes after they have accepted a ping, and this has caused delays to the order, reducing their earning ability.

Don't Depend on GPS

Using GPS is fantastic, but it doesn’t always give you the absolute best route to a restaurant. Over time, look to gain a little bit of local knowledge. Keep an eye out for shortcuts, busy roads, etc.

The quicker you can get somewhere, the more money you will end up earning.

But do remember to park properly, otherwise, you could end up with an expensive parking ticket.

Set Yourself Earning Targets

Every single night, set yourself an earning target. Try to hang around on the app until you end up beating it.

We like to set ourselves a goal of beating the previous day. However, do bear in mind that some days may be more profitable than others, and thus beating the previous day may not always be profitable. This can be demotivating.

Ignore Orders Too Far Away

Yes. We know that orders that are far away pay more, but they often don’t pay enough for it to be worth your while. You would be better off sticking to deliveries that have no more than a 10-20 minute drive.

Don't Pressure The Staff In Restaurants

Restaurants can often get irritated at Deliveroo delivery drivers, mostly because those drivers pressure them.

Don’t do that. Be personable with the staff. Don’t hassle them. Over time, the restaurant will get to know you, and they are much more likely to prioritize your cooking, and this means that you are going to be making those deliveries so much quicker.

Don't Worry If You Don't Receive a Tip

There will be people that don’t tip you. It is annoying, but it happens. Don’t complain at people. Don’t get angry. Just make a note of the house and never deliver there in the future.

If You Are a Deliveroo Cyclist Stick To Flat Areas

Finally, if you are a cyclist, then pay special attention to the areas that you are delivering in. Ignore those areas with lots of hills. You will be tiring yourself out by the end of the night. It will also slow you down, no matter how fit you are.

Conclusion

We hope that these Deliveroo tips and tricks will help to increase your earning potential through the app. There is a lot of cash to be made here. You just need to know how to do it properly.
