Quick comparison of earnings

Please understand that these comparisons are rough approximations, but with that said…

People who deliver for Bite Squad tend to make around $15/hour, while Dashers make $15-25/hour.

Both services pay you for each order you deliver, and the amount you get paid for each delivery is always different. The amount a delivery is worth is calculated by algorithms and includes the distance, location, desirability of the order, and other factors.

For these reasons, we can only provide a rough approximation, so please understand it’s entirely possible to make more or less delivering for either service. That’s also why we recommend trying out every gig available in your city to compare earnings for yourself and potentially use a multi-apping strategy to deliver for multiple services at once.

Doordash average pay

There are currently over 450,000 merchants operating in DoorDash in dozens of cities around the USA. As a Dasher, you’ll be delivering food orders to customers who order through the app, including orders from local restaurants, convenience stores, and five-star hotels.

When working for DoorDash, you’ll make between $2-10 per delivery. As we mentioned already, the value of each delivery is highly variable and depends on many factors. So when it comes to how much you can make per hour, it is a blending of two factors: how many orders you can deliver per hour and how much each order is worth.

If you delivered four orders worth $2, you’d only make $8, but if they’re all worth $9, you will make $36. All things considered, drivers normally make from $15-25/hour on average.

Another reason why Dashers earn so well compared to other delivery services is that they keep 100% of the tips, which are accounted for already in our average earnings calculation.

And lastly, as a delivery person for DoorDash, you are a contract worker, so it’s important to keep track of your expenses so you can deduct them around tax time. It’s also a good idea to use an app like Upside to get cash back on your gas if you deliver via car.

Bite Squad average pay

Bite Squad drivers tend to make $15/hour (or more), depending on their location. For instance, earnings are normally higher in more expensive regions, like San Fransico and LA. It’s important to keep this in mind because you may see someone making more money but in a region with a higher cost of living.

In addition to the location, pay-per-delivery can fluctuate based on the time of day, so it’s important to test out different times so you can find which hours are most profitable. Apps like Gridwise can help you figure this out.

Unlike DoorDash, Bite Squad hasn’t expanded beyond restaurants, so you won’t get orders to pick things up from stores like 7/11. This can make things easier because you don’t have to worry about carrying around a Red Card or finding items in stores yourself.

When it comes to getting paid, you can withdraw your earnings from Bite Squad straight to your bank, and you only need a minimum balance of $30 to cash out.

One other factor to keep in mind is that Bite Squad is more popular in rural and suburban areas than DoorDash. Despite the difference in pay, you might get a lot more orders working for Bite Squad if you live in a more rural region.

Bite Squad tips: Bite Squad drivers now keep their tips, but the company got into hot water in the past about this. They were offering drivers a guaranteed minimum hourly rate, but they would take any tips you earned out of your pay to reduce it down to that hourly wage. For obvious reasons, they faced backlash and even a class action lawsuit for this, and they no longer enforce this practice.

Does DoorDash pay better than Bite Squad?

As a delivery driver, the work is extremely similar whether you’re delivering for DoorDash or Bite Squad, so that means you’ll want the highest pay you can get.

Generally speaking, DoorDash drivers make more than Bite Squad workers, but there are additional factors to consider.

If you live in a more rural region, Bite Squad is probably more popular in your area and the opposite for urban centers. This has one major implication.

If DoorDash is popular in your area, then you’re most likely going to do the best sticking with DoorDash. However, if Bite Squad is more popular, you might not get enough DoorDash orders to fill your working hours, so you may want to jump between the two in order to maximize your earnings.

Which one is better?

The pay from both companies is similar, but the side benefits of DoorDash exceed those offered by Bite Squad.

DoorDash frequently runs promotions that allow you to earn more, and after your first delivery, they’ll send you a food-warming bag, so you don’t have to buy one yourself.

DoorDash also has perks, such as cashback for gas, discounts on auto mechanics and tax help, and special deals for health insurance.

Bite Squad offers some perks, but there aren’t as many discounts, nor are the deals as good.

Are there any gigs that pay more?

DoorDash pays out as much as any other delivery service, so you won’t make significantly more delivery for Uber or Instacart.

However, you can use multi-apping to deliver for multiple services simultaneously, and that is a proven technique for increasing earnings. As a contractor, you want to work for multiple companies as you aren’t tied down to just one like a regular employee.
